किया था। गुप्त
वंश की स्थापना
चंद्रगुप्त
प्रथम ने की
थी, जिन्होंने वर्तमान बिहार में पाटलिपुत्र
में अपनी राजधानी
स्थापित
की थी।
गुप्त साम्राज्य की स्थापना चंद्रगुप्त प्रथम ने की थी, जिन्होंने इस क्षेत्र के पिछले शासक शुंग वंश को उखाड़ फेंका था। गुप्त साम्राज्य को इसके अत्यधिक केंद्रीकृत प्रशासन की विशेषता थी, जिसने कुशल शासन और आर्थिक विकास की अनुमति दी।
गुप्त साम्राज्य को विभिन्न बाहरी खतरों का सामना करना पड़ा, जिसमें हूण और व्हाइट हूणद्वारा आक्रमण शामिल थे, जिसके कारण 6 वीं शताब्दी ईस्वी में साम्राज्य का पतन हुआ। हालांकि, गुप्त साम्राज्य की विरासत आने वाली सदियों तक भारतीय संस्कृति और समाज को आकार देती रही।
गुप्त साम्राज्य अपनी प्रभावशाली वास्तुकला के लिए भी जाना जाता था, जिसमें दिल्ली का प्रसिद्ध लौह स्तंभ भी शामिल था, जो जंग के बिना एक हजार से अधिक वर्षों से खड़ा है।
